ABOUT TALULAH RUBY
Talulah has been collecting and selecting records for over 10 years with a particular inclination towards analogue processing. Her sound as an artist is refined and now unmistakable, but her sound a selector is intuitive, ever expanding and curious in it’s aim to provide relief to the listener by actively selecting and listening to their listening.
Always seeking the perfect dynamic in a set, be it designed for 1 hour or 5. Talulah puts deep focus on the intention of a space and aims to soundscape as if for a scene in a film. Digging up rare vocal performances by Minnie Riperton and pairing sweet soul with rhythms found deep in the trenches of her collectives archives. Her sets are a rare treat and bound to inspire a record purchase or two.
& If the set up has a mic input and an FX pedal, the space in question will undoubtedly lift off.
Born and raised in the Lava fields of Lanzarote, currently based in London. Talulah Ruby is a sound geek first and foremost. Known primarily for her work as a vocalist & writer who works with production and composition as a tool to explore different depths of sound and emotion. Focusing on releasing recorded music, developing expansive live shows and creating specialised pieces for film/collaborative projects.
Talulah was raised on an eclectic mix of sounds from Trip Hop & Radiohead, to Fela Kuti & Batucada music from South America. Vocally, it was traditional soul that informed her tone, singers like Etta James and Aretha Franklin were a constant. She adopted a jazz sentiment from a young age, blending influences from Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday with instrumental artists such as Dave Brubeck & John Coltrane. Talulah has a nose for sounds that capture even the hardest of hearts and aims to encourage people to experiment in their approach to DJing and selection by incorporating live sampling and overdubbing as part of the craft.

“Ethereal. Luminous. Bubbling alien-like synths and vocal strands surging quickly and then contracting like time pulling to a standstill both at once. ”
